Morphy Richards Kettle
Tea isn’t only popular in Great Britain, though they are best known for drinking it. That’s why it’s no surprise that the Morphy Richards kettle is a British creation.
Like Breville, Morphy Richards has several different types of cordless tea kettles with a variety of looks. From tea kettles that look like upgraded coffee percolators to tea kettles that look like they’re ready to adorn today’s modern kitchen, there’s a Morphy Richards kettle that’s right for any home or office. The least expensive type of kettle seems to be the Morphy Richards 43027 Stainless Steel Jug Kettle, which sells for £24,99 ($39), as of January 2011. It sells for the same price on the Morphy Richards website. It’s a 1.5 liter (50.7 ounce) capacity kettle that shuts off automatically, has a water gauge and a removable lime scale filter. With its black trim and squat design, it has the look of an updated coffee percolator.
For £34,99 ($54.33), you can buy another Morphy Richards Kettle with an upgraded percolator look called the Accents Green Jug Kettle (43171). This kettle also comes in red, blue and black. It has a 1.7 liter (57.5 ounce) capacity, water level indicator, 360 degree cordless base that makes it easy for right and left handed users and a failsafe cut out. Menarys.com sells these kettles for $45.27 plus $24.60 for shipping and handling. That comes to almost $70 dollars. The Morphy Richards website seems to only accept payments in the form of British pounds. There’s usually a fee for exchanging currency, so your best bet might be to buy from amazon.com and pay for the convenience of being able to pay in US dollars.
For a cup of tea brewed the British way, you’ll want to get a Morphy Richards kettle … and a tea strainer, of course. No tea bags allowed!
